On a coordinate diagram the horizontal line is called the
x-axis and the vertical line is called the
y-axis. The point where the x-axis and y-axis meet is called the
origin, O.
The coordinates of a point are written (a,b) where a is the distance across (left or right) and b is the distance up or down from the point (0,0).
The coordinate grid is divided into four sections called quadrants:
