A juice company ordered 60 shipments of oranges. There were 800 oranges in each shipment. How many oranges did the company order in all?

There were 60 shipments, each of which had 800 oranges.

Multiply 60 by 800.

First, multiply 6 and 8. (6 × 8 = 48)

Now count the zeroes in both numbers. 60 × 800 = ?

There are 3 zeroes in all. Write 3 zeroes after 48.

60 × 800 = 48,000

The company ordered 48,000 oranges in all.
