Cone

A cone is a solid with one circular base and a curved surface that meets at a vertex.

A right cone is a cone that has its apex aligned directly above the center of its base. An oblique cone is a cone with an apex that is not aligned above the center of the base.

Right Cone
Oblique Cone

Following are facts about cones:

  • The height is the perpendicular distance between the base and the vertex.
  • The slant height is the altitude of the curved surface from the vertex.
